In June 2023, the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) published a special report titled, “Synthesis Report on the Application of Temporary Orange Pavement Markings in Work Zones.” Developed by the Innovation & Technical Services (ITS) Team formed for the Orange Pavement Markings Task Force within ATSSA’s Pavement Marking Committee, the report presents practical examples and insights gathered from 2014 to 2023. It reviews the application and performance of various types of temporary orange pavement markings across seven U.S. states, offering valuable guidance for improving work zone safety and visibility.
