Many departments of transportation (DOTs) either use or have considered using HFST to improve friction and reduce crashes at critical roadway locations. Factors like site selection, pre-treatment pavement condition and installation methods influence how successfully HFST is implemented. Whether optimizing existing HFST programs or catalyzing a new program, “HFST Installation – Lessons Learned” draws on real-world examples to provide program guidance. Moderated by Kelly Morse with Illinois DOT, leaders from Delaware DOT (formerly), Tennessee DOT and Missouri DOT will discuss what role HFST takes in their state, and the lessons learned from installation of HFST.
