ATSSA’s 2025 New Products Rollout Report details the latest ideas for protecting workers, motorists and pedestrians

NPRO entries offer cutting-edge tools, tech for saving lives on nation’s roadways

Advancing roadway safety has been ATSSA’s core mission for more than half a century and encouraging innovation through the annual New Products Rollout (NPRO) is a key tactic in the push Toward Zero Deaths.

This year, a record number of products (20) was submitted for NPRO, which gives companies the unique opportunity to showcase their ideas before thousands of roadway safety industry members, including key players from public agencies from across the nation.

Those public officials are practitioners on the lookout for products to protect the lives of their teams as well as contractors working on road projects throughout the year. They also are interested in protecting motorists, who statistically suffer the highest number of fatalities in work zone crashes.

ATSSA’s Innovation & Technical Services Team just released the “2025 New Products Rollout Summary,” a 34-page report detailing the key features of all 20 products included in this year’s NPRO, which took place during ATSSA’s 2025 Convention & Traffic Expo in Orlando, Fla. A panel of department of transportation (DOT) judges reviewed videos from each of the products and spoke to company representatives before selecting four products to honor with an Innovation Award and three honorable mentions.

“These cutting-edge ideas are aimed at protecting workers and the motoring public by utilizing the latest ingenuity and technology,” said ATSSA Manager of Innovation & Technical Services Nagham Matout El-Zine. “I am fascinated each year by the groundbreaking ideas put forth for the New Products Rollout.”

The 20 products entered for 2025 address four categories, with some products filling multiple niches. The four categories are:

  • Pavement markings, materials, tools and markers
  • Positive protection and crash attenuators
  • Temporary traffic control
  • Worker safety/productivity and road user safety

In addition to ATSSA’s 34-page report detailing the key features, each product’s creators submitted a video to demonstrate the value of their roadway safety innovation.

Check out the 2025 New Products Rollout Summary for full details on the 20 innovative products.
