ATSSA’s 2022 Convention & Traffic Expo reunites members of the roadway safety infrastructure in Tampa, Florida, for five days of education, innovation, collaboration and inspiration.

We anticipate nearly 3,000 in attendance this year, including more than 150 department of transportation DOT officials representing 40 states.

“I’m looking forward to taking part in the first in-person Convention & Traffic Expo of my tenure,” said ATSSA President & CEO Stacy Tetschner, who joined the Association in March 2020. “Last year’s virtual event exceeded my expectations but I know for our members nothing can replace the tangible and intangible advantages of gathering in person with other industry experts so I am eager to be part of the experience.”

Some of the highlights for 2022 include:

  • Rear Adm. Scott Moore, who retired after leading the Navy SEALs for 30 years, is keynote speaker on Feb. 13 and will share leadership lessons from his career in a no-fail role.
  • A policy panel featuring ATSSA Vice President of Engagement Nate Smith and Kathy Ruffalo, president of consulting firm Ruffalo & Associates in Washington, will discuss the impact of the Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Acts IIJA on members of the roadway safety infrastructure industry.
  • Local celebrity Sonya Bryson-Kirksey, a retired Air Force technical sergeant, will sing the national anthem. Bryson-Kirksey is the anthem singer for the two-time Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning.
  • Nearly 40 education sessions are offered over three days on topics from connected work zones to wet reflective pavement markings to connected vehicle advantages and challenges.
  • Eleven micro sessions and traffic talks take place on the Traffic Expo floor.
  • Two new ATSSA Councils get down to business – the Roadway Worker Protection Council, which focuses both on prevention of work zone injuries and preparation if tragedy occurs, and the Women in Roadway Safety Council, created to help women network in a male-dominated industry. It is also open to men.
  • Find out who won this year’s National Safety Award, National Media Award and Mark of Excellence Award.
  • The New Products Rollout takes place Monday and from it are chosen three Innovation Awards, which are presented at the ATSSA Circle of Innovation on Tuesday.
  • Bountiful opportunities to network include two formal events—the Chairman’s Big Game Watch Party on Sunday and the Young Industry Professionals reception on Monday—and countless informal gatherings.
  • The Traffic Expo includes a massive display of roadway safety infrastructure innovations and equipment, all within the exhibit space at the Tampa Convention Center.
  • Plus, attendees will have the opportunity to begin planning ahead by working with the Wyman Co. to select exhibit space for Phoenix in 2023.
