ATSSA’s 54th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo will bring together a diverse group of roadway safety professionals with broad interests and some competitive fire.

Take advantage of opportunities to get to know others from across the nation and the globe while participating in events and receptions held throughout the Feb. 2-6 event in San Diego.

Two American Traffic Safety Services (ATSS) Foundation events kick things off on Friday, Feb. 2.

A capacity crowd will hit the links at Steele Canyon Golf Club in Jamul, Calif., for the 32nd Annual Golf Classic Tournament, teeing off shortly after 9 a.m. PST.

Others will test their marksmanship skills at the Lemon Grove Rod & Gun Club in Alpine, Calif., for the 11th Annual Sporting Clays Event starting at 10 a.m. PST.

Prizes, food and fun await participants at both events that support the programs of the ATSS Foundation, which promotes roadway safety through charitable giving and programs such as the National Work Zone Memorial, Teen Driver Program, Roadway Safety Memorial Scholarships, Marty Weed Engineering Scholarship and Youth Activity Books.

Sunday, Feb. 4 marks the official start of Convention events, including opening of the Traffic Expo which spans roughly 250,000 square feet of the San Diego Convention Center. That morning, new ATSSA members and first-time Convention attendees can enjoy a 7 a.m. breakfast held to help them learn the lay of the land and start making industry contacts. From there, they can stop by the Risk Management Council Meeting to pick up some tips before selecting from among nine of the concurrent education sessions that total more than 40 throughout the event.

The Opening General Session follows at 10:30 a.m. followed by the official opening of the Traffic Expo floor at 12:30 p.m. The Expo floor will host micro sessions throughout the Convention plus presentations by winners of this year’s Traffic Control Device Student Challenge and New Products Rollout presentations.

That evening, transportation department members can gather for the Public Agency Reception at the Convention Center starting at 5:30 p.m.

The California ATSSA Chapter (CAL-ATSSA) is hosting a Student Day on Monday, Feb. 5. Students ages 16 and up will receive complimentary registration by using promo code: 2024CAStudent. They can then show their student ID when they check in at registration before meeting CAL-ATSSA members at Traffic Expo Booth 1839 at 1 p.m. Chapter members will introduce students to industry professionals and take them on a guided tour of the exhibit hall where they can learn about the many facets of roadway safety infrastructure. They can then explore the Traffic Expo on their own until 5:30 p.m.

Young Industry Professionals will gather that evening for food and entertainment at The Shout! House piano bar from 7-10 p.m.

That same night, members can take part in a Political Action Committee reception from 6-7 p.m. at San Diego Wine & Culinary Center.

“ATSSA’s Convention & Traffic Expo is the place for roadway safety infrastructure professionals to learn, share and network as they collaborate to innovate roadways, advance safety and enhance infrastructure,” said ATSSA Vice President of Experience Jason Yusko. “Our goal is to share ideas, inspire solutions and have fun while pursuing the serious business of saving lives on the nation’s roads.”

Registration is now open and hotel rooms are going fast.
