Explore Innovation: Guided tours, device demos among new features for 2025 Convention

ATSSA’s 2025 Convention & Traffic Expo is packed with new features designed to enhance the experience.

Highlights include one guided tour to help newcomers navigate the 300,000-square-foot exhibit floor and another that’s an exclusive opportunity for public agency officials to examine every entry in the New Products Rollout. Plus, one area on the Traffic Expo floor will be devoted to demonstration of work zone devices.

Each year, the Traffic Expo floor is teeming with people eager to see the latest innovations.

First-time attendees to ATSSA’s annual event can tour the Orange County Convention Center with an ATSSA team member who will walk them through the massive facility and orient them to the largest gathering of the roadway safety infrastructure industry in North America.

The Newcomers Tour takes place on Sunday, March 2 from 3-4 p.m. First-timers can register for the tour during event registration at Expo.ATSSA.com/Registration. They are also invited to a breakfast that morning.

ATSSA’s 2025 Convention & Traffic Expo takes place in Orlando, Fla., Feb. 28-March 4.

In addition, for the first time, ATSSA’s Innovation & Technical Services Team will lead a New Products Rollout (NPRO) Tour for department of transportation (DOT) employees from across the country to showcase the 20 entries in this year’s NPRO, from which will come the winner of the coveted Innovation Award. DOT officials will be able to meet product creators and learn about the features developed to advance roadway safety.

The NPRO Tour scheduled for 1 p.m. on Monday, March 3, was so popular, there is a waiting list to participate. Public agency officials can add their name to the wait list when registering.

“We think both tours are a great addition to this year’s Convention & Traffic Expo. The Newcomers Tour helps first-time attendees learn their way around this valuable industry event. The NPRO Tour benefits both the creators of these innovative roadway safety products and public agency officials, who can benefit from learning about the latest advances for keeping motorists and workers safe on the nation’s highways,” said ATSSA President & CEO Stacy Tetschner. “These are just two of the ways we’ve enhanced this year’s event.”

In addition, on Tuesday, March 4, from noon to 2 p.m., the Traffic Expo floor will feature a Work Zone Safety Device Demonstrations area. This area, located near the ATSSA Showcase, is funded by a Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) grant. The demonstrations will showcase tools used for work zone safety including Automated Flagging Assistance Devices (AFADs), Portable Traffic Signals (PTS) and Residential Driveway Temporary Signals.

More than 4,000 people from the roadway safety infrastructure industry registered for the 2024 Convention & Traffic Expo.

ATSSA’s event is about driving innovation to advance roadway safety and this year’s format was designed to help the thousands who attend to receive the greatest benefit.

That’s why Sunday, March 2 is Education Day, with nearly 40 sessions across seven tracks scheduled from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. After absorbing the latest information from experts from North America and beyond, gather for the Traffic Expo Sneak Preview Party with food, beverages, a DJ and prize drawings on the exhibit floor from 4-6 p.m.

The Convention’s one general session takes place at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 3 and includes updates on ATSSA, the ATSS Foundation, relevant legislation and announcement of national awards.

Keynote speaker Doc Hendley, who founded “Wine to Water,” will share about the path to his passion for global lifesaving work during the general session.

The Traffic Expo grand opening follows the general session on March 3 and runs from 10:30 a.m. through 5:30 p.m. This year’s Expo includes lunch on the show floor, a reception for the national award winners at the ATSSA Pavilion and a reimagined activation area.

The Convention’s final day on March 4 kicks off with the hour-long Circle of Innovation at 9 a.m., followed by brunch on the Traffic Expo floor, a Member Appreciation Reception at the ATSSA Pavilion and the final micro sessions. The Florida ATSSA Chapter (FL-ATSSA) also hosts Student Day on March 4, in which students ages 16 to university level and a chaperone can tour the Traffic Expo for free. Registration details are available at Expo.ATSSA.com/Registration.

Convention & Traffic Expo registration is now open. Book housing by Jan. 28 for the ATSSA Convention room block. For full event details, Expo.ATSSA.com.
