Courses related to traffic signals include:
Traffic Signal Fundamentals and Technologies
Foundational course designed for engineering and planning professionals who regularly interface with traffic engineering and traffic signal systems. The course introduces several signals-related topics with practical application for each, including traffic flow, signals components, timing, safety, analysis tools, data and capacity. The course also covers some emerging concepts that are planned or being tested such as signal phasing and timing data disseminated to connected vehicles, automated traffic signal performance measures, data management and communications, and adaptive signal control.
Traffic Signal Hardware Architecture
Provides an overview of the inner workings of a traffic signal cabinet and the connected technologies. The course covers cabinet architecture, controller styles and detection technologies, as well as emerging technologies like those provided for connected and automated vehicles (CAVs). The course also includes pictures of the various styles of cabinet architecture and controller types to provide students with understanding and recognition when inside a traffic signal cabinet assembly. Maintenance needs and requirements for equipment are addressed.
Traffic Signals courses are offered as closed or co-sponsored hosting options and are not available in our training platform.
