This spring, Caltrans gathered information from manufacturers and vendors of work zone-related safety products about recent innovations in the products. Twelve ATSSA member companies responded about work zone safety products they offer and were mentioned in the 42-page report, “Work Zone Safety: Synthesis of Literature and Industry Survey.” “To ensure the most innovative commercially available products are used to reduce the frequency of intrusion crashes and to improve work zone safety on California highways and roads, Caltrans sought information about recently developed safety innovations that alert workers and drivers in work zones,” the report states. Among the next steps are for Caltrans to consider utilizing products learned about through the study and to reach out to five of the ATSSA members for additional details.
