ATSSA announces winner of 2018 Industry Achievement Award

Prestigious national award recognizes years of service to the roadway safety infrastructure industry

TAMPA, Fla. (February 10, 2019) – The American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) announced the winner of the 2018 Industry Achievement Award at the 49th Annual Convention & Traffic Expo, in Tampa, Florida on Feb. 10.

The winner of this year’s award is Sue Reiss, national sales manager for Impact Recovery Systems, Inc.

The ATSSA Industry Achievement Award is awarded to ATSSA members who have made significant contributions to the roadway safety infrastructure industry and the association, honoring them for their service.

Reiss has been an active ATSSA member for more than 25 years and has been instrumental in the development of ATSSA publications on roadway safety countermeasures that support the association’s mission to advance roadway safety. Reiss also served on The American Traffic Safety Services Foundation’s Board of Directors for more than ten years. The Foundation supports the loved ones of those impacted by work zone incidents.

“I am absolutely honored and humbled by receiving ATSSA’s Industry Achievement Award. It is, in my mind, one of the biggest honors someone who works in traffic safety industry could ever receive. I'm gratified that my life's work resulted in this kind of recognition. There are not many professions or industries that afford you the opportunity to potentially save a life or to do something other people in the world only hear about. We collectively, as an industry, are about saving lives and I think that is a very honorable thing for all of us to do,” Reiss said.

Reiss was nominated for the award by Greg Hannah, president of Impact Recovery Systems and SlowStop Guarding Systems.

“Sue has been involved with ATSSA for about 30 years and has given her heart and soul to The Foundation. I can't think of anybody more deserving of ATSSA's Industry Achievement Award. She has dedicated a tremendous amount of time and effort to ensure The Foundation had adequate support and funding to run its many programs that help roadway workers and their families,” said Hannah.
