ATSSA’s Communications Department is extremely diverse and works diligently to “Advance Roadway Safety” by communicating roadway safety issues to ATSSA members, the media and others outside the association and the industry. The department produces award-winning educational videos, writes press releases, and gathers statistical data from a variety of sources for article publication and member information.
The department is also responsible for speech writing, media training, photography, attending and coordinating national meetings and events and managing ATSSA.com. Since 1999, the department has led National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) activities in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area in partnership with the Federal Highway Administration and other industry partners.
Every three months, The Signal, a quarterly, full-color newsletter, is published, and every other week, The Flash is sent to ATSSA members and those outside the association interested in roadway safety issues. The latter contains current industry news, government relations activities and information compiled from a diverse variety of roadway safety organizations, companies and associations. The Flash is distributed electronically, by fax or by mail worldwide.
The Communication Department also serves as the association's webmaster, managing over 700 pages of ATSSA.com.
