Northland Chapter -
Life Behind the Cones and Barrels National Poster Contest

The ATSSA Foundation’s “Life Behind The Cones Snd Barrels – How Roadway Workers Keep America Moving” Poster Contest educates young people about work zone safety before they begin to drive. Future drivers in grades K-3 and 4-6 document their impressions of roadway work and become advocates for safe work zone habits to their family members and friends.   If you have questions, please contact Rick Shomion, ATSSA Northland Chapter, at 651-366-3579.

It should cover  "Life Behind The Cones And Barrels" / "How Roadway Workers Keep America Moving" and feature one or more of the following:

-Slow down to posted speeds and be patient.
-Merge carefully and follow the directions of work zone signs and workers.
-Remove distractions such as cell phones or unnecessary conversations.
-Focus on what is ahead of you and "expect the unexpected".
-Turn lights on in work zones
-Display an orange ribbon on your vehicle to show your commitment to work zone safety.

Northland Chapter winners receive cash prizes, with a matching gift going to each winner’s school. Posters are sent to the National contest for a chance at prizes and being featured in the NATSSAF
calendar.
