Life Behind the Cones and Barrels National Poster Contest
The ATSSA Foundation’s “Life Behind The Cones Snd Barrels – How Roadway Workers Keep America Moving” Poster Contest educates young people about work zone safety before they begin to drive. Future drivers in grades K-3 and 4-6 document their impressions of roadway work and become advocates for safe work zone habits to their family members and friends. It should cover "Life Behind The Cones And Barrels" / "How Roadway Workers Keep America Moving" and feature one or more of the following:
-Slow down to posted speeds and be patient.
-Merge carefully and follow the directions of work zone signs and workers.
-Remove distractions such as cell phones or unnecessary conversations.
-Focus on what is ahead of you and "expect the unexpected".
-Turn lights on in work zones
-Display an orange ribbon on your vehicle to show your commitment to work zone safety.
Northland Chapter winners receive cash prizes, with a matching gift going to each winner’s school. Posters are sent to the National contest for a chance at prizes and being featured in the NATSSAF
calendar.
