Map Shows 'Hot Zones' for Accidents on Rural Roads

The University of Minnesota’s Center for Excellence in Rural Safety has updated its rural safety road map.

Launched last year, the nationwide map shows the 100 rural accident “hot zones” in each state, in addition to a list of the top ten state offenders for rural road safety. The most dangerous states include Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Texas and Virginia.

Entering a ZIP code, city name or street address will allow users to see the fatal crashes that have occurred in the past five years.

Click here to view the map, which also includes the top 100 urban accident 'hot zones.'
