VA Chapter Awards Cash Prizes To Local Students & Schools Who Participated In Work Zone Poster Contest

Fredericksburg, Va. – Students from Virginia were recently selected as winners of the American Traffic Safety Services Foundation / Va. Chapter of ATSSA/ Va-DOT poster contest that challenges children across the state to creatively draw their depictions of roadway work zones. Shirley Heim Middle School also won a free pizza party.

The Foundation / Va. Chapter of ATSSA / VDOT poster contest program, “Life Behind the Cones and Barrels: How Roadway Workers Keep America Moving Poster Contest Program,” was created by the Foundation to help raise public awareness of the dangers that workers experience daily in roadway work zones across the country. Annually, over 720 fatalities occur in these work zones.
