Job Opportunity -- Safety and Training Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Administers and manages all aspects of the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) adhering to standards and keeping the agency in compliance with all state and federal laws.

• Creates and leads the safety programs.

• Ensures compliance with OSHA/CalOSHA requirements; primary point of contact with OSHA inspectors and other agency representatives.

• Ensures compliance with Worker’s Compensation program and requirements.

• Develops trainings and policies to prevent injuries in the work place by analyzing trends.

• Implements safety protocols and programs, training programs in conjunction with insurance carriers/contractors and union. Ensures that employees are provided with appropriate annual training such as: first aid, lockout/tagout, emergency evacuation, hazard communication.

• Conducts quarterly fire drills.

• Prepares monthly safety management and statistical reports.

• Develops Emergency Management and evacuation plan.

• Develops and executes orientation for union employees.

• Take pro-active approach on any new safety/compliance measures, is up to date with any new laws/safety compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety or related field

• Five years risk management, safety and workers’ compensation case management experience

• Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal agencies including Occupational Health and Safety/CalOSHA, Department of Transportation, Department of Industrial Relations

• Ability to provide training, speak to groups of people, and facilitate or lead investigations

The Highway Safety Design Engineer will aid in the development of dynamic new products for the highway safety industry.  Currently, Work Area Protection is a leader in many highway safety sectors and we are aggressively positioning the company for expansion. This position requires the ability to operate in a fast paced environment.

Location: St. Charles, IL 

Job Description:

• Develop new products for highway safety

• Develop engineering calculations, diagrams and technical reports

• Design and execute engineering experiments for creation of workable solutions

• Prepare plans and detailed drawings with project specifications and cost estimates

• Work with Sales/Marketing to produce market friendly products

• Ensure products adhere to industry/business standards

• Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate and problem solve

Engineering Skill Requirements:

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Master’s degree preferred. 

• Must be familiar with finite element analysis using LS-Dyna. 

• Must be familiar with CAD software including Solid Works. 

• Should have 2 to 3 years of experience in the highway safety engineering industry. This experience should include design work and analysis. 

• Should have experience with crash testing to MASH standard protocol and a general understanding of the highway safety market.
